Sustainable Solutions at Heubach
Product Carbon Footprint
Climate change is a global challenge that affects everyone. We at Heubach are aware that the production of pigments and pigment preparations is particularly energy intensive. We see it as our responsibility to reduce our emissions as much as possible.
We work continuously on production and process technology and innovations to reduce our use of energy and resources while lowering our emissions.
You can’t improve what you don’t measure: in 2022 we started our journey to carbon neutrality by generating transparency on Heubach’s environmental impact.
The Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) is an established method for determining the climate impact of a product. It sums up all greenhouse gas emissions generated by a product over the different stages of its life cycle.
Since March 2023 Heubach offers Product carbon footprint for group of 13 Azo pigments. Our Product Carbon Footprints are calculated according to Green House Gas Protocol (GHG), ISO Norm (ISO 14067), Together for Sustainability (TfS) PCF Guideline and provide transparency on emissions from scope 1, 2 and 3. The product carbon footprint calculation is based on GHG emissions from our plant, purchased energy and high-quality average data for purchased raw materials and transportations.
The carbon footprints for Heubach’s Group of Azo Pigments are calculated according to the cradle-to-gate boundary system, i.e. covering the greenhouse gases emitted during production processes and material acquisition. The calculation of other environmental impacts (i.e., anything that happens after the products leave our factory gates) is beyond the scope of the calculation.
The results are unique and based on the assumptions and practices of Heubach Group. They do not serve as a basis for comparison with other companies and/or products.
